PITCHING OVERVIEW
TO PITCH - verb - to try to persuade someone to do something (Cambridge Dictionary)
The Pitching Form is available to the voter group member wishing to suggest to fellow group members a new idea for consideration. The number of pitches per member per voting cycle is limited.
Primary Pitching Rules

-
The pitch must benefit the group and its mission
-
The primary purpose of the pitch must fall within the scope of the group's policy classification
-
You may save your pitches at any time and come back to complete and submit them later. Saved pitches always remain preserved and you may re-edit them throughout successive monthly voting cycles if you wish to resubmit them again in modified form. There is a maximum cap (4) on the number of total pitches per type (initiatives, repeals) that can have saved at any time, but you may overwrite a saved pitch with a new one if you run out of room.

QUICK TIP
ALWAYS TRY TO MAKE YOUR PITCHES AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE. An overly-broad pitch covers too many issues or areas and makes it difficult to focus on the root cause or assign resources efficiently--whether you are soley pitching a problem or a problem-solution combination.
TO ALL All ECHO MEMBERS: Echo permits ANY member to complete the pitch form, but only members of this group may actually submit theirs. Echo encourages ALL members to experience the pitching process (although only simulated for unqualified page visitors) as a means to better understand this critical stage of the monthly voting cycle.

group voting OVERVIEw
The Group Voting stage is a seven (7) day period that immediately follows the GROUP Pitching stage of a Monthly Voting Cycle. This is the period of time when group members vote on the pitches submitted by fellow group members which are aimed at advancing the all-important group mission statement. At the beginning of this stage, Echo assembles a group's pitches and places them onto the Group Ballot. Recall that pitches can be new policy initiatIVes or repeals that void existing policies (learn about the policy process). The top-two pitches within each group, based on the highest "Echo" count averages, move on to the Community level to vie for a coveted community ballot slot within the group's policy classification. With some groups becoming rather large, pitch voting can become a daunting process when many group members submit their own pitches. For this reason, Echo has added a special feature to allow a voter to display either the quick pitch (abbreviated pitch) or the full pitch. The advantage of the quick pitch viewing mode is that the voter can quickly scan over and eliminate certain pitches as possibilities. Afterwards, the more compelling pitches can be viewed in their complete form. In Echo terminology, "Quick pitches" are sometimes referred to as "short pitches" while complete pitches are sometimes called "long pitches."

VOTING considerations

-
judge pitches based on how they could ADVANCE your group's MISSION STATEMENT, how specific they are, how realistic they might be to implement (e.g. budget, time, impacts) and what chances they have to pass the community's (your jurisdiction's) litmus test.
-
You may choose not to vote ("Echo") on certain pitch. When you do, you will not be counted in that pitch's quorum calculation. Pitches that do not meet the minimum voting quorum requirement are considered invalid and never pass up to the community level.
