Founded in 2023, Democratic Software Solutions LLC, or DSS, is a spin-off of the nonprofit First Amendment Rights Preservation Society, Inc., or FARPS,  a 501(c)(3) think tank formed in 2021 as a free speech advocacy and activist organization. Both companies were formally launched in Santa Cruz, CA, a historic beach enclave adjacent to Silicon Valley.

DSS was not tasked to produce another social media platform, but to create an advanced,  data-driven, consensus-modeling tool to give ordinary community members a genuine voice in how decisions are made for their local communities--decisions routinely dictated to them by powerful, well-organized and hyper-funded political machines and their special interest partners, transforming our cities into their visions, not ours. The result--a web-based tool called ECHO, paired with the proprietary  E-DEMOCRACY software engine, that deploys timely, concise, transparent and invaluable data messaging between resident and representative. Echo is a transformative, game-changing solution that makes "getting involved" in community politics "no longer a chore"--a place where free speech rights are tantamount to ensure a fairer and more pluralistic local government institution ... where all voices are equal ... and where all freedom-loving people are welcome.
